Virtual Training Assistantâ„¢ Online Help
This page displays a list of competencies that have been assigned to you. For each Competency you may perform the following:
Perform Self-Assessment
If you are an Assessor , you may assess the student's competency by selecting a Proficiency Level .
Assigned competencies are displayed in Competency Groups. Each group is displayed as a horizontal bar going across the page. The name of the Competency Group is shown on the left side of the bar, along with an arrow. You can expand a Competency Group by clicking anywhere in the horizontal bar. Only one group may be open at a time.
Each Competency Group bar contains flags indicating your status for the group. A green flag means the student has met the Target Proficiency Level for each competency in the group. A red flag means that the student has not yet met all the target proficiency levels for the group. The flags will display results for "Committed" data only (see below). Tip: The flag icons can be customized, so it is possible that you will see flags of different colors, depending on how your System Administrator has configured Learner.
Competencies are assigned to students as either "Mandatory" or "Developmental". You can filter the My Competencies page to show just Mandatory, just Developmental, or both by selecting from the Assignment Type drop down list at the type of the page, then clicking the Apply Filter button.
There are two ways of saving data on the page. The Save button saves your data with a "Pending" status. This means that you may come back at some future time and change the data as needed. Pending data is not shown to anyone but you. The Commit button saves the data, removing the "Pending" status, and makes it visible to supervisors and System Administrators.
Data is automatically "Saved" (with pending status) as you navigate around the page. If you leave the page and go to another page in Learner, your data is also automatically saved with a pending status. On the other hand, data is never committed with your having to click the Commit button.
There are generally 3 boxes where Assessment data is shown.
Assessor
This box shows the last assessment result by an Assessor. Data
in this box is "read only", unless you are the assessor
that created the result. In that case there will be an Edit button where you may make changes to the
results.
Last Self Assessment
This box shows the last self-assessment made by the student. Data
in this box is "read only".
New Assessment (or New Self Assessment)
This is where you may record a new assessment if your System Administrator
has given you permission to make assessments.
At the top of the New Assessment (or new Self Assessment) box, the Proficiency Levels are displayed. As you hover your mouse over each level, the name of the proficiency level is displayed. The Target Proficiency Level is indicated by a gold star. Click one of the proficiency levels to select that level as the student's current level. You can click the Proficiency Indicators link to display a pop-up window that will list the indicators. Please note that indicators will vary from competency to competency. If you change your mind after selecting a proficiency level, you can just click the red "X" next to the proficiency levels group and it will clear your selection.
Once you have selected a proficiency level, you may enter a comment. Please note that if you clear your proficiency level selection the comments box will be disabled and your comments will not save; you can only save comments when you have selected a proficiency level.
If you are performing a Self Assessment, the Proficiency Level and the comments are all you can enter. If you are an assessor, however, you may also enter the Next Assessment Date. This is the date by which the student should be re-assessed.
Assessors may also click the More button to enter a more detailed assessment and assign items to the Personal Development Plan .
If the student you are assessing has a Gravatar , it will display on this page.
