Virtual Training Assistantâ„¢ Online Help
The Course Description page allows you to learn about a course before you actually start it, enroll into a classroom session of it or add it to your Wishlist.
It is accessed from a variety of places in Learner:
Clicking Start for a Self-Study course with lessons.
Clicking Self-Study for a Self-Study course without lessons.
Note: The same is true if a Requirement Group contains a Self-Study course, once you click "View Detail" and then "Start" or "Self-Study".
Clicking on any Course Title on the My Wishlist page.
Clicking Start for a Self-Study course event on the Program Status page (see My Programs).
Clicking the green-arrow (start) button for a course My Development Plan.
Clicking on any Course Title from a Search:
This button indicates the course consists of one or more online Lessons, but no classroom component.
You may begin the course at any time.
Clicking the Start Course button will take you to the Class Lessons page and VTA Learner will start tracking your progress through the course.
Note: Your System Administrator may prevent starting Self-Study modules from the various Search pages.
This button indicates the course consists of a classroom component. It may or may not have one or more online Lessons.
Clicking the See Schedule button will take you to the Course Schedule page.
Note: If the 'See Schedule' button is disabled, the course is not presently scheduled.
This button indicates the course:
consists of a classroom component, which may or may not have one or more online Lessons.
is Self-Study, but there are no online Lessons.
Clicking the Add to My Wishlist will add the course to your My Wishlist page.
Clicking the Back button will return you to whichever Learner page that got you to the Course Description page.
The Course Description page displays the following information about the selected course depending on how the System Administrator set it up in VTA:
If you click "Start" for a course on your My Plan page, and your System Administrator applied a control that prevents you from starting the course unless you are within a set number of days prior to the Due Date, you will see this message to the right of the Back button:
The VTA Site name that created, or "owns", the course.
The Course Title and Course Code.
If your System Administrator has allowed the course to be rated in Learner, you will see the average rating, including the number of submitted ratings.
The person responsible for managing the course content.
If the Custodian's email address is available in VTA, you can click the name to send them an email.
The number of Credit Hours achieved by course completion.
If the organization has a "charge back" process to track training expenses, you may see a value displayed.
If the organization has a "pay on demand" process implemented, or paywall, this is the amount you will need to pay prior to starting or enrolling into the course.
Indicates whether or not you meet the prerequisites required for the course.
You will see "OK" if:
If there are no prerequisites.
If there are prerequisites and you have already satisfied them.
If there are prerequisites, but you have not yet satisfied them, you will see the necessary courses listed. Clicking on a course listed will send you to that course's Course Description page.
A description of the course as entered by your System Administrator.
The course outline as entered by your System Administrator.
The objectives for the course as entered by your System Administrator.
The target audience for which the course is intended as entered by your System Administrator.
The Lessons associated with the course will be listed, including the Type of Lesson it is and if it is required.
You will have to complete all required Lessons to get completion credit for the course.
If you start the course and do not complete all required Lessons, the course will remain in your In-Progress Training.
